Sword-wielding youths unleash terror over cricket match dispute in Odisha

A group of youths unleashed terror by wielding swords and pelting stones at Balukeswar village under Khallikote police station in Ganjam district late on Wednesday night over some past rivalry.

Around 5-6 miscreants were seen moving around the village with swords in their hands. They even pelted stones at the house of a youth of the village. The victim managed to record the entire act on his mobile camera.

It is alleged that a controversy had erupted between two groups during a cricket match in the village some months back. The matter had even reached the police station.

It is not clear whether yesterday’s incident was a fallout of the same dispute or some other rivalry. Meanwhile, based on the mobile footage, police have started an investigation into the matter.
