Bollywood star Sunny Leone finds herself at the centre of a peculiar fraud case in Chhattisgarh, where her name was allegedly used to divert funds meant for a government welfare programme.

As per reports, the Chhattisgarh government is providing Rs 1000 to married women under the Mahtari Vandana Yojana. However, the concerned authorities unearthed a counterfeit account under Sunny Leone's name, which was utilised to embezzle money designated for the Mahtari Vandana Yojana beneficiaries.  This initiative, designed to offer financial support to married women, lists Ms Leone as one of its beneficiaries.

A resident of Bastar district, Birendra Joshi, who purportedly opened the fraudulent account in the actress’ name, had been transferring funds to it monthly. Joshi allegedly withdrew Rs 10,000 from this account.
