A  Sub-Inspector (SI) undergoing Special Operations Group (SOG) training in Malkangiri has been arrested on charges of love and fraud. The accused, identified as Bijay Sahu, was taken into custody following allegations that he deceived a young woman with false promises of marriage. Following his arrest, he was produced before the court by the police.

According to police reports, SI Bijay Sahu hails from Baliapal village in Balasore district. The victim, a young woman, had lodged a complaint against him at Baliapal Police Station in December last year, accusing him of engaging in a physical relationship with her under the pretext of marriage and later refusing to fulfil his promise.

“The accused youth was in a relationship with the girl since 2019. They were into a relationship and the youth was avoiding her when she insisted on marriage,” said IIC of Baliapal Police Station, Gopal Behera.

Action By Police

Upon receiving the complaint, the police launched an investigation, which eventually led to his arrest. The case has brought to light serious concerns about ethical conduct among law enforcement officials, and the matter is now being handled by the judiciary.
