Spurious foreign liquor manufacturing unit operating from bakery busted in Odisha 

Police on Friday busted a spurious foreign liquor manufacturing unit running under the guise of a bakery at OmNagar under Bada Bazar police limits in Berhampur. 

During the raid, the police seized a huge number of sealed bottles of fake liquor and a substantial quantity of empty bottles along with raw materials and packaging items. 

The police have detained two brothers identified as Tarini Jena and Mitu Jena in this connection.

The fake foreign liquor manufacturing unit was allegedly running from the bakery unit for a long time. On Friday, acting on a tip-off, a team of Bada Bazar Police Station led by IIC Prashant Bhupati and town SDPO under the guidance of Ankit Verma, IPS (Probation) raided the unit. 

The police seized ten cartons of sealed bottles, empty bottles stashed in over 10 sacks, other packaging materials, and raw materials like caramel and homeopathic spirit.  

A detailed investigation is underway, it was learned.
