Markatnagar Police has started an investigation into the shocking suicide bid by a family at CDA sector 6 area in Cuttack on Thursday. As per initial reports, Soumya Ranjan Panda and his parents–father Umacharan Panda and mother Sarojini Panda are now undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital after the trio consumed poison.

Soumya Ranjan works as a software engineer in an IT company in Bengaluru. Reports suggest that Soumya Ranjan and his parents were rescued in an unconscious condition from their rented house on Thursday night.

Following the incident, all the three members of the family were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The condition Soumya Ranjan is said to be stable while his parents are undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital. It is suspected that all the three of the family tried to end their life after consuming poison. However, it is not clear as to what drove them to end their lives. Senior police officials have started an investigation into the matter.
