Even after three days of the incident, the Commissionerate Police is yet to make any headway in the loot and burglary at Hockey Olympian Prabodh Tirkey’s home in Bhubaneswar.
The robbers targeted Tirkey’s quarters VR-86 located in Unit-6 area of the Smart City on Friday night.
As per reports, while the police had immediately registered an FIR and launched a probe into the matter, no arrests have been made till today, which has left the family of the Olympian in worries.
Speaking to OTV, Tirkey’s father said, “The cops had come once and asked us some questions on the robbery. But have not received any communication from them till now. We were in our village when the robbers broke into the house and stole the valuables.”
“They looted gold jewellery weighing 200 gm and other valuables including my son’s trophies and medals. The police should expedite the probe and recover the stolen items as soon as possible,” demanded Tirkey’s mother.
Tirkey had confirmed the robbery and said his medals, TV set, computer and gold ornaments among other valuables were looted from the government quarters.
Prabodh Tirkey, who was born in Sundargarh on 6th October 1984, was the national captain of sub-junior, junior and India A Team before becoming captain of the India senior team. He was in the Indian team which won the 2007 Asia Cup in Chennai.
