Even two days after burglars made off with the entire stock of gold and silver ornaments from the Suvarna Jewellery shop, located at Chakeisiani under the Mancheswar Police limits in Bhubaneswar, the police are still groping in the dark.
As per reports, the brazen robbery took place late on December 19 night. The criminals managed to gain entry to the store by cutting through the front locks. They displayed advanced planning by disabling the store's CCTV cameras before the robbery. They succeeded in disconnecting the cameras and removing the digital video recorder (DVR) unit, presumably to eliminate any evidence.
After the incident, Brahma Sahu, the owner of the jewellery shop, lodged a complaint at the Mancheswar police station. Even though two days have passed, the police are yet to find any clue regarding the robbers. Meanwhile, they are currently scrutinising CCTV footage from the neighbouring area and hopeful that their efforts will yield leads to apprehend the individuals responsible for the theft.

It seems miscreants are throwing an open challenge to the Commissionerate Police as they have started targeting shops after targeting flats in apartments.
Notably, some unidentified miscreants allegedly looted lakhs of rupees along with gold and silver jewellery from four flats of Vishal Garden apartment located at Uttara Chhak in Bhubaneswar late on November 30 night.
Earlier in October, two burglars had allegedly gang-raped a woman after looting her apartment in the Maitri Vihar area in Bhubaneswar. The woman was with her little daughter when the burglars barged into her apartment and committed the heinous crime. Later, the accused were arrested by the Commissionerate Police
