In a shocking and inhuman incident, a man allegedly strangled his mother to death in Dantari Bagada village under Aska police limits of Ganjam district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Laxmi Barada (81). 

According to sources, Laxmi has three sons and his elder son, identified as Pramod, allegedly committed the crime over a property dispute.

Pramod’s two younger brothers have already died and he is trying to transfer the property ownership to his name. There was a long standing dispute between Pramod and his mother over the property, sources added.

As per the allegation Pramod had a fight with his mother last night and he reportedly assaulted her. Later, Laxmi’s dead body was found in the morning.

On being informed, Aska police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. The accused son has fled from the scene after the incident. Police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
