In a dramatic hot pursuit on National Highway-15, the Special Crime Unit of Commissionerate Police arrested two drug traffickers while they were illegally smuggling a huge consignment of cannabis in a car to Jharkhand.

As per police sources, both accused hail from Odisha's Kandhamal. The officers of the Special Crime Unit swung into action after getting a tip-off regarding a suspected vehicle believed to be transporting a large quantity of cannabis from Phulbani to Jharkhand.

On seeing the police team, the accused tried to flee by speeding their car. The dramatic hot pursuit continued on NH-15 from Pitapali to Janla fly over for several kilometres.

Twin City Police Commissioner, Sanjeeb Panda informed that the Special Crime Unit was previously prepared and three separate teams were engaged to intercept the car.

“Accordingly, two police vehicles chased the suspected car and the other team was placed near Janla fly over to completely block the traffic coming from Khordha side,” said Panda.
