A shocking stabbing incident was reported in Baripada town of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday. The incident took place near Station Bazaar, where an unidentified miscreant attacked a young man with a knife in full public view before fleeing the scene.

The victim, identified as Muna Yadav, originally from Sasaram in Bihar, has been working at a foreign liquor shop in Baripada for the past two months.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth was out buying groceries when an unknown man approached him, engaged in a brief conversation, and suddenly attacked him with a knife.

The attacker inflicted multiple deep wounds on the victim’s hands and torso. Locals rushed the critically injured youth to the Baripada Medical College and Hospital. His condition is stated to be serious.

Following the incident, Baripada Town Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. A manhunt has been initiated to identify and arrest the attacker, though the motive behind the assault remains unclear.

This incident has sparked tension in the area, especially since it comes just a week after a separate shooting and assault case in the town. Locals have expressed growing concern over the 'deteriorating law and order situation' in Baripada.
