Police on Wednesday arrested a youth for the brutal murder of a female postmaster, whose body was recovered from a field near Lefripara block in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Nayan.
Senior police officials said that both the deceased lady postmaster Snigdha Pradhan and Nayan were in a relationship. However, Nayan stabbed Snigdha to death multiple times using a knife.
He had also sent a message to Snidgha’s mother informing the location where her daughter’s body was dumped. In the message, he was also informed to have been attacked.
Snigdha reportedly went missing on Monday and the family had lodged a complaint in connection with the incident. It was the same day that she had picked up a quarrel with Nayan over some matter.
SDPO said that the deceased’s mother had registered a missing complaint. Later the complainant informed to have received a message in which it was written that some miscreant had killed her daughter and the accused.
“During the investigation, we had detained the Nayan and during interrogation, he confessed to have killed her. Nayan informed that he was feeling insecure as the deceased was talking with other male colleagues,” the SDPO said.
