A police constable in Malkangiri has been accused of defrauding several aspirants worth lakhs of rupees under false promises of providing them government jobs. The accused constable has been identified as Sunil Chopadi.
One Kunjalata Maharana alleged that Sunil Chopadi duped him of Rs 6.5 lakh on the pretext of securing a police job for her son. The constable allegedly had taken Rs 3 lakh initially. However, the name of Kunjalata’s son did not feature in the recruitment list.
Kunjalata alleged that despite lodging a complaint against the constable at the local police station, no action was taken. Rather, the accused constable was made an eyewitness in the case, the complainant alleged.

Disappointed by the lack of response from local police authorities, Kunjalata knocked on the doors of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for justice. Her efforts underscore a growing concern among citizens about accountability within law enforcement agencies.
In a parallel case, one Kashinath Sarkar also claimed to have paid Rs 5 lakh to the constable for a government job for his daughter.
As both victims seek justice, no comments from the constable against whom such allegations have been made or senior officials of police department could be obtained. These incidents highlight ongoing concerns over fraudulent activities and the need for prompt police action.
