A special team of the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested SK Lalu alias Nazimuddin, a wanted inter-state drugs trafficker, from Baranaldaha under Palasipara police limits (West Bengal) with the assistance of the local police.
As per reports, Lalu was arrested on January 7-8 night and was produced before the Court of CJM, Tehatta (West Bengal). The Court has allowed the Odisha Crime Branch STF to take the accused on a 5-day transit remand.
SK Lalu was wanted in connection with a case pertaining to the seizure of 1.43 kg brown sugar from one S K Safikul alias Khokan who was arrested on October 20, 2021. Khokan, who hails from Murshidabad, was arrested by the STF while he was trying to strike a deal of the narcotics near Tangi.
During interrogation, Khokan confessed that he had procured the brown sugar from S K Lalu, a noted inter-state drugs trafficker.
Senior STF officials said that already the investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other criminals in the illegal narcotics trade. The accused SK Lalu will be produced before the District and Sessions Court, Cuttack.
