The state capital, which is witnessing an unprecedented rise in crimes, was rocked by a series of bomb attacks on Wednesday night, sending the Commissionerate Police into a tizzy.

Both the bomb attacks were reported from Bapuji Nagar’s Kedarpali slum. While no exact reason for the attack was known immediately, preliminary reports suggest it was perpetrated over past enmity. The first attack was reported from Kedarpali Lane-1 while another was reported from Barahampur Street near Sishu Bhawan.

According to sources, a few youths were chilling near Lane-1 when two miscreants came on a bike and hurled bombs at them over past enmity. Luckily, everyone ran helter-skelter and saved their lives. However, the bomb attack left a minor boy injured who had to be rushed to Capital Hospital.

The bomb attacks were captured in a CCTV camera installed in the area. Based on the CCTV footage, Capital Police formed a special team to arrest the miscreants. However, police is yet to arrest the miscreants behind the bomb attacks.

“It happened around 10:30 pm (September 18). I was in my shop and came here after learning about the incident. When I came here, my brothers and other neighbours had already been taken to the police station. We suspect previous enmity behind the attacks,” said a local resident.

“We were sitting and chilling here when they came from nowhere and hurled bombs at us. There were two of them and they were wearing masks. They were riding Pulsar 220 bike. Both the bombs were thrown by them,” said an eye-witness.

Meanwhile, the unprecedented rise in crimes like house loot, chain snatching, and bomb attacks, has once again become a matter of concern for Temple City. A few days back, some youths were arrested for over-speeding and recklessly driving their cars on pavements and causing road blockades.
