It seems that cybercriminals have now adopted new methods to swindle money from people's accounts without OTP. The new kind of fraud has been reported from Purnia in Bihar where a gang of eight has been arrested.
As per opindia report, the cybercriminals used the Aadhaar biometrics data of the victim obtained from government land records to make transactions using the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System.
The criminals cleverly breached the victim’s Aadhaar details and fingerprints from the land documents.
Impersonating the victim by cloning the thumb impression taken from the land records, the criminals took money out of the victim’s bank account through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System using the cloned thumb impression and the victim’s Aadhaar details, the report added.
