A youth from Sandhimunda village under Chandahandi Block in Nabarangpur district, who had gone to Berhampur to sit for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), has allegedly been missing for a month now.
The incident came to the fore only on Friday when the worried family members lodged a missing complaint at the Chandahandi police station. The missing youth has been identified as Bidyadhara Mali, son of Pabitra Mali.
As per reports, Bidyadhara along with some friends had travelled to Berhampur to appear in the NEET examinations a month ago. After the exams got over, all but Bidyadhara returned home. When Bidyadhara’s family members contacted his friends, they said he had told them that he would stay back in Berhampur for some days.
Upon hearing this, the family members stopped worrying. However, the family became worried after they did not hear anything from Bidyadhar for a month. They initially tried on their own to trace him, searching at every possible place. When they failed, they sought police help.
On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and have launched a probe.
“My son is missing for a month now. We urge the administration to trace him out,” said Pabitra Mali, Bidyadhara’s father.
When contacted over phone, Chandahandi police station IIC Paramananda Sunani said the police had sought the call details report (CDR) of Bidyadhara’s two mobile phones. “The family members have lodged a missing complaint a month after Bidyadhara went to Berhampur to appear an exam. Besides this, they cannot give any other details like the date he left home or with whom he had left for Berhampur. However, we have launched a probe,” said Sunani.
