Mystery over married woman’s death; husband arrested after parents allege murder

The death of a woman, who had tied the nuptial knot some three years back, has triggered tension Sahadevkhunta area in Balasore district. The deceased has been identified as Itishree Tiwari.

The parents of Itishree alleged that she was being subjected to mental and physical torture by her in-laws including her sister-in-law after her miscarriage twice in the past. Itishree’s body was found hanging at her in-laws' house and a hand-written note was also recovered from the spot.

Police have arrested Itishree’s husband and her body has been sent for post-mortem.

Itishree’s parents alleged, “My daughter had come home on Raksha Bandhan and she was happy. Her in-laws were torturing her.”

However, deceased Itishree’s in-laws have refuted the allegations. “When I came to the room, I found her body hanging. We were staying happily and I do not know why it happened,” said deceased Itishree’s mother-in-law.
