Miscreants strike Shiva temple in Jaleswar, decamp with valuables worth Rs 4 lakh

Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from a Shiva temple at Bagpunji village under Jaleswar Police limits in Balasore district. It is suspected that the miscreants broke into the temple premises by breaking the locks late on Tuesday night.

The matter came to light after some villagers found the gates of the temple broken and informed the priest about the theft.

Ashok Kumar Acharya, the temple priest said, “The villagers informed me about the theft. Valuables, including utensils and silver items worth Rs 4 lakh have been stolen. The donation box, mic set, and other articles have been looted.”

It is pertinent to mention here that a similar theft was also reported from the Tarini temple in the Kanpur area last month.
