In a broad daylight heist, two unidentified miscreants looted cash worth Rs 60,000 from a cloth shop near Ashram Square under Soro police station in Balasore on Tuesday. The entire act of theft was captured on CCTV camera installed in the shop.
As per reports, the theft took place around 2.30 pm when two persons arrived at the shop on a motorcycle. They brought a dress from the shop worth Rs 400. One of the miscreants paid Rs 500 and the shopkeeper returned Rs 100 in return.
However, the duo asked the store owner to give two currency notes of Rs 50 in exchange of Rs 100. In the meantime, as the cashier was busy scanning the cash box for Rs 50 currency notes, one of the miscreants tactfully stole a bundle of Rs 500 by inserting hand inside the money drawyer.
However, what is most surprising is that the theft occurred right in front of the cashier but he did not even realise because of the clean execution of the miscreant's loot trick.
Later when the shop owner Amitabh Agarwal found a cash bundle missing from the box, he lodged a complaint about the theft case at Soro police station.
“Police have assured us to identify nab the culprits by checking the CCTV footage which has captured the whole act,” said Agarwal.
