In a deeply disturbing incident, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three youths in a remote forest area of Sundargarh district. The crime took place in the Talsara police station limits and it has triggered shock and outrage in the local community.
Initial Reports
According to reports, the girl had gone to attend the traditional ‘Ekosia Bhoji’ on Monday, a community feast held in many parts of rural Odisha. After the event, she was returning home with two other minor girls when the accused intercepted them.
Under false pretences or coercion, the three youths allegedly forcibly took the victim into a nearby jungle. Once inside the isolated forest area, the minor was reportedly gang-raped.

Meanwhile, the two other girls managed to escape the scene out of fear. They ran to safety and quickly informed villagers and the victim’s family about the horrific incident.
It is alleged that the youths had come in an SUV and gang-raped the minor girl after abducting her. Later, they dropped the survivor near another village. The matter came to light after the minor girl narrated the ordeal to her parents.
A formal police complaint has been lodged in connection with the incident.
Sources said that the accused youths were known to the minor girl. However, things will only get clear after police officials conduct a proper investigation into the shocking incident.
