In a shocking incident, a minor son beat his father to death at a village under Lahunipada police limits in Sundargarh district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Dinabandhu Nayak.
According to a source, deceased Dinabandhu and his wife had a quarrel. Later, Dinabandhu started beating his wife. Their son was watching this from a distance. He couldn’t help but oppose his father. Soon, he lost his cool, picked up a piece of iron rod and started thrashing his father, leading to his death on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot and took the minor into their custody. A detailed investigation is underway.
In a similar incident, a wounded body was recovered from the side of the road at Pital village under Shergarh block in Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as Hina Naik, a resident of Harijan Sahi.
The deceased’s family members alleged he was murdered by some miscreants. According to them, HIna had a quarrel with some youths in the evening. In the meantime, there was a power cut. Taking the advantage of the darkness, the miscreants took Naik away in an auto-rickshaw. A few minutes later, he was found in a pool of blood by the side of the medical road.
“He was murdered somewhere and his body was brought in an auto rickshaw and dumped by the side of medical road. We want stringent punishment for the murders,” said the deceased’s relative Anil Nayak.
On being informed, police teams from Hinjli and Aska reached the spot, recovered the body and sent for the postmortem. Meanwhile, they have launched a detailed probe into the incident from various angles including murder.
