The confrontation involved Ashok Maharana, the younger brother, being physically assaulted by his elder brother, Surya Maharana. Witnesses observed that Surya, reportedly overwhelmed with anger, inflicted severe injuries on Ashok with a sharp-edged weapon.

“He was excessively beaten,” a bystander recounted, highlighting the gravity of the assault. Local residents attempted to intervene but faced further aggression themselves.

Ongoing Tensions

Neighbouring witnesses indicated that disputes between the two regarding the division of their family home persisted for some time. The conflict reached its peak last evening, culminating in a violent outbreak.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Following the incident, the accused Surya Maharana tried to hide in a nearby house. However, locals beat him up black and blue before handing over to police. Tension escalated when the police arrived to arrest Surya, and the crowd allegedly attacked him and damaged a police vehicle.

Currently, police from Bharatpur Police Station are conducting further investigations into the incident, seeking to bring clarity to this familial conflict.
