A man allegedly axed a youth to death as the latter and his daughter had eloped some two days back in Kashipur area of Rayagada. The deceased has been identified as Charan Singh (name changed).
As per reports, Charan was in a love relationship with one Priti (name changed). Both had eloped together some two days back. Priti’s father allegedly had called the youth and his daughter home on the pretext of solemnising their marriage.
On Tuesday night, the man allegedly attacked Charan with an axe leading to his death on the spot. Later, he also did not spare his daughter and attacked her with the axe. Suspecting that her daughter had died, Bijay escaped from the spot.
On getting information, police reached the spot and rescued Priti in a critical condition. Initially, she was admitted to Kashipur CHC and later shifted to Rayagada.
Sources said that the girl might be shifted to Berhampur as her condition still remains critical.
Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from senior police officials related to the incident.
