In a bold midday robbery, a gang of five armed robbers targeted the Odisha Grameen Bank in Joda, Keonjhar, causing chaos and panic. The perpetrators, displaying firearms, absconded with over Rs 11 lakh rupees and a significant quantity of gold jewellery.

Odisha Grameen Bank Loot Incident:

According to reports, the gang stormed into the bank during business hours, threatening the bank staff to hand over money and gold. The group managed to make away with over Rs 11 lakh and a collection of gold ornaments.

Local residents have expressed concerns about safety following the incident. Witnesses described the alarming scene as both chaotic and terrifying. Many were unable to process the fast-paced events as they unfolded.

“It's alarming to think such a thing could happen in broad daylight in our small town. We were terrified and could not do anything,” commented a nearby shopkeeper.

Police Response to Bank Loot in Joda, Keonjhar

Following the event, Joda Police Station has commenced a thorough investigation to track down the suspects. Police teams are meticulously analysing evidence and gathering testimonies from those present during the incident. The incident has spotlighted security vulnerabilities in rural banks, often seen as easier targets.

“We are actively investigating the crime and gathering all possible leads to capture the offenders,” Joda PS in-charge, Ravi Das told mediapersons.
