Two girls from Bolangir landed in trouble after falling in love with a youth over the social media platform Instagram. As per initial reports, the two girls had left home and come down to Jajpur where they were allegedly tortured and confined at a house by a youth for nearly a month.
Both the girls were rescued by police with the assistance of local residents. Sources said that the girls were engaged in tailoring work in Tamil Nadu. It was during that time that they came in contact with a youth, identified as Ranjit Sahu of Banisahi in Jajpur district over Instagram.
The victims reportedly hail from Khaprakhol area in Bolangir district.
“The youth had taken all the money and my mobile phone and tortured me. Somehow, I managed to escape from the house and raised an alarm,” said one of the victims.
Following the incident, police visited the house and detained two persons after an initial probe. However, the prime accused Ranjit is absconding.
