A landlord in Bhuabaneswar is alleged to have kidnapped his tenant’s daughter and kept her in an unknown place for the last 20 days. The matter came to fore after the victim’s parents approached the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) on Sunday urging the cops to trace their missing daughter.
The complainants held their landlord responsible for the missing of their daughter.
They claimed that their daughter has gone missing for the last 20 days. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s parents, police registered a case and raided the house of their landlord with the help of Childline officials. However, the landlord’s house was found locked.
It is learnt that the victim had been residing at the rented house with her father since 2018. Police meanwhile launched a manhunt for the landlord so that they can trace the whereabouts of the girl.
The victim’s father Santosh Pradhan said “Our landlord has no children. That’s why he used to take my daughter with him and keep her with him whenever I go for work. I did not realize his master plan behind being so kind to me and my daughter. Before I could realise, it’s too late.”
Victim’s mother Mandodari Pradhan said, “My husband was living on rent there. The landlord developed a strong rapport with my husband that the latter could not understand the former’s intention. When I came to meet my daughter, I found her missing. The landlord had locked her house and taken my daughter to some other place.”
