A senior journalist sustained grievous injuries in an alleged attack by two miscreants at Delta Square in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The injured journalist has been identified as Satya Sundar Bhanja who is working in an Odia daily newspaper. Bhanja has been admitted to Capital Hospital in a critical condition.
According to reports, two bike-born miscreants allegedly tried to snatch the mobile phone of Bhanja when he was on morning walk near Delta Square in Bhubaneswar. When Bhanja resisted the loot bid, the miscreants assaulted him with an iron rod on his head and then promptly snatched his mobile phone.
Locals rushed Bhanja to the Capital Hospital in a serious condition. His condition is stated to be stable now.

“My brother is working as the bureau head of Western editions of a newspaper. He was staying with me in Bhubaneswar for a while. He was brutally attacked by some miscreants today morning,” said Bhanja’s younger brother.
“Fortunately, he was admitted to the hospital immediately. Otherwise, his condition would have been deteriorated further. Thanks to the timely treatment by the doctors in the hospital, he is stable and able to talk now,” he added.
Speaking on the incident, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said, "Property offence prevention and detection (POPD) teams of three police stations and team 60 are inquiring into the case. We will try to detect the accused as soon as possible."
"People arrested in snatching cases are released from jail after a few days. We try to keep a tab on them. Despite that such incidents are occurring. We will be more careful and enhance patrolling in vulnerable spots," the DCP added.
