These days, people are coming up with new tricks to dupe people on the pretext of providing jobs. In one such incident, a man has been accused of duping scores of people in Mayurbhanj by promising jobs in an agro company.

The incident has been reported from Chaiposhi village under Kaptipada block. It is alleged that the accused promised several women in the area jobs in lieu of Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000.

After taking money from the villagers, the accused allegedly went in hibernation for nearly four months and was untraced.

However, the villagers caught hold of the accused when he had allegedly come to collect money from a woman in the village. The villagers also thrashed the accused after getting hold of him.

On getting information, police reached the village and rescued the man.

“The man told us it was a survey work and a mart will be opened where agricultural equipment and other poultry feed would be sold to the farmers. It was some four months back that he had taken money. Today, he had come to take money from another person when we caught him,”said Sasmita Behera, a victim.

Accused Binod Jena said, “As the women have given Rs 2000, they are worried and brought such allegations as there has been some delay in posting. We will certainly open the mart and those who are not willing, we will return their money.”
