Inebriated youths slit auto-rickshaw driver’s throat in Cuttack
In a ghastly act, two youths, in an inebriated condition, slit the throat of an auto-rickshaw driver over a trivial issue at Madhupatna chhak near Link Road in Cuttack on Sunday evening.
According to sources, an altercation between the auto-rickshaw driver and the two youths broke out over parking.
Later, the feud took an ugly turn when, the youths, in a fit of rage attacked the driver and slit his throat with a sharp weapon, sources said, adding that, the assailants fled the spot after committing the crime.
The auto-rickshaw driver was immediately rushed to the City Hospital and his condition is stated to be critical.
On being informed about the incident, the Madhupatna police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, the attack on the auto-rickshaw driver has raised concern over the safety and security of the people in Cuttack ahead of the festive season.
