A case has been registered on a local court's order after a man from Uttar Pradesh alleged that his daughter was forcibly injected with an HIV-infected syringe by her in-laws due to dowry-related torture, police said.
According to the complaint, the victim, Sonal Saini, was married to Abhishek alias Sachin, son of Nathiram Saini from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on February 15, 2023. At the time of marriage, a car and ₹15 lakh were given as dowry. However, her in-laws were dissatisfied and later demanded a Scorpio SUV and ₹25 lakh, the father alleged.
Following a Panchayat intervention in Haridwar’s Jaswawala village, Sonal returned to her husband’s house. However, she was subjected to further physical and mental harassment. Her father claimed that her in-laws conspired to kill her by injecting her with an HIV-infected syringe.
As her health deteriorated, her family took her to a hospital, where medical tests confirmed she was HIV-positive. Shockingly, her husband Abhishek tested negative, raising suspicions about foul play.
Despite lodging a complaint with the police, no action was taken. The victim’s family then approached the court, which directed the Gangoh Kotwali police to file a case.
A case has now been registered against Abhishek, his parents, and other family members under serious charges, including dowry harassment, assault, and attempted murder. Authorities are investigating the allegations, and further legal action is expected based on the findings.
