It seems that thieves are now targeting the residence of former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik in Bhubaneswar. Such apprehensions have now cropped up after a thief was caught while trying to sneak into Patnaik’s residence at Nayapalli on Monday night.
It is for the second time in the past three days that the senior Congress leader’s house has been on the target of burglars.
On January 25, a thief had allegedly looted jewellery worth around Rs 50 lakh from Patnaik’s N/29 house.
In the latest incident, a thief was captured in CCTV footage attempting to enter Patnaik's house no - N/25. The thief was seen surveying the location before attempting to enter through a window. However, the intrusion bid was thwarted by alert members.
The burglar has now been detained by police and he is being interrogated.

“A professional thief was involved in the theft at our house on January 25. He managed to gain entry despite the deployment of a security guard. The thief entered the room and only took cash and jewellery despite other valuable items present,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik further said that another thief who has been caught seems to be a drug addict.
