In a bizarre incident, a drunken pharmacist allegedly attacked a youth with a liquor bottle at the Idada Primary Health Center (PHC) under Basta block in Balasore district on Tuesday.
The pharmacist has been identified as Subhasis Tudu. The youth, identified as Prashant Ghadei, sustained serious injuries in the attack. He has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
As per reports, Tudu was loitering around in the PBC in an inebriated condition in the morning hours. He was apparently in a bad mood over some issue and was hurling abuses at the people who had come to the PHC for Covid-19 vaccination.
As he became further high, he became more abusive and violent. Suddenly he became violent and started chasing and attacking people whosoever came on his way. He then threw a liquor bottle at Ghadei, who was waiting for his turn for vaccination, leaving him seriously injured. Tudu too sustained minor injuries in the process.
The angry villagers overpowered Tudu and bashed him up. They then tied the drunken pharmacist to a tree before informing the police.
On receiving information, the Singla police reached the spot and rescued Tudu in a serious condition. He was latter admitted to the Basta Community Health Center for treatment. The police have registered an offence and launched an investigation into the incident.
