Divyang youth kills widow to ‘acquire’ her property in Odisha’s Athagarh, surrenders at police station

A youth has killed a woman in an alleged attempt to acquire her property in Odisha. The shocking incident has been reported from Panchagaon under Tigiria police limits of Athagarh in Cuttack district. The deceased woman is a widow and was staying at her residence alone after the death of her husband. Her son is staying outside the state for pursuing his education.

After killing the woman, the accused youth, who is said to a Divyang, surrendered at the police station. As per initial reports, the deceased woman had given shelter to the accused youth when he was 10 years old.

Though it is alleged that the accused youth killed the woman to acquire her property, mystery still shrouds the entire incident owing to some dispute between them over the latter’s relationship with someone. However, the exact reason behind the murder is still unclear.

Meanwhile, senior officials of Tigiria police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.

A senior police said, “The deceased’s son has lodged a complaint alleging that the man staying in their house as adopted son has killed her mother over property. There is a deep neck on the woman’s body.”
