A young contractor was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified miscreants at Chandeswar Square under Tangi police limits in Khordha district late Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Rout of Radhamohanpur.
According to reports, Ramesh along with two of his friends had been out for work when two miscreants on a motorbike intercepted the trio near Chandeswar Square.
The miscreants opened three rounds of fire at Ramesh, leading to his death on the spot. The miscreants then fled the scene before locals could understand anything.
On being alerted, local police rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants. The reason behind the brutal murder was not known immediately. Meanwhile, his family members have demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
The deceased is survived by his wife and two children.
“He had gone out for some work. When we called him, he said that he was on his way back home. However, we were worried when he did not reach home. Later, we came to know that he was shot at by some miscreants. We rushed to the hospital only to find him dead,” said the deceased’s brother Sesadev.
“We have zero idea about who the miscreants are. So, I request the police to launch a probe and arrest the miscreants. He is survived by his wife and two children. We suspect a person known as Tutu Barik as he was with my brother. Everything will be known after Tutu Barik is interrogated,” he added.
