A shocking incident of student violence has been reported from Banabhuin Ashram School in Nilagiri block of Balasore district, Odisha. Allegations have surfaced that Class 10 students brutally assaulted more than 20 Class 9 students after they refused to clean the hostel premises on Tuesday.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents, who have lodged a formal complaint with the headmistress of the school.

Incident Details and Allegations

According to reports, the Class 10 students had instructed their juniors from Class 9 to clean the hostel on the previous day. However, when the younger students refused to comply with the order, the seniors allegedly attacked them with sticks in a group assault. The victims reportedly suffered injuries; the parents of the affected students have strongly condemned the act, demanding strict action against those responsible.

Speaking to the media, parents expressed deep concern over the safety and discipline in the school. 

“I have seen my son and the injury marks on his body,” alleged a parent.

School Administration Refutes Allegation

Following the complaints, the district welfare officer visited the school to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, the headmistress of the institution has denied the allegations, stating that the incident is being exaggerated. She maintained that no serious assault actually took place and that the situation was under control.

The Headmistress of the school said, “All the allegations are completely baseless and the students are also refuting them. There has been no attack. Whoever has given the information, it has been done to defame the school.”

Authorities Launch Investigation

In response to the growing concerns, district administration officials, including the district welfare officer, have launched an inquiry. They have begun interaction with students, staff members, and eyewitnesses to verify the claims and gather evidence.
