A delegation of Odisha Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders called on the Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi and drew his attention to the tardy pace of investigation in the case lodged by a woman against Labour Minister Srikanta Sahu.
The saffron party leaders also questioned why no action is being taken against the Minister and if the police are under any pressure.
They even alleged that the police are shielding the Labour Minister by not registering any case against him.
However, no reaction could be obtained from Labour Minister Sahu in this regard,
“A female member of his (Labour Minister Srikanta Sahu’s) party lodged a complaint against him at the Mahila Police Station. She sat for 14 hours at the police station. Did Sanjukta Mahal visit the police station without any reason? She visited the police station to lodge a complaint against the Labour Minister. She even told this before the cameras. But the police are saying that her complaint is non-cognizable in nature. But it is not acceptable at all that a woman is deprived of justice by making bad use of loopholes,” alleged General Secretary, BJP, Lekhashree Samantasinghara.
Notably, Sanjukta Mahal went to the Mahila Police Station in Bhubaneswar on April 13 at around 11 AM. At around 4 PM, the police took her to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for examination. The police then brought her back to the police station at around 8:30 PM. That is when she informed the media that she had filed a complaint against Odisha Labour Minister, Srikanta Sahu.
Mahal even said that she has faith in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and is hopeful of getting justice.
