Unidentified miscreants brutally hacked to death a person at Bada Bazar area in Berhampur. The deceased, identified as Sanatan Choudhry, was working as a bus hawker.
The incident occurred when Sanatan was returning home at around 9 pm on Saturday night.
As per initial reports, three miscreants intercepted Sanatan and allegedly attacked him with swords and other sharp weapons. Sanatan died on the spot after sustaining multiple injuries in the attack.
"I had called my husband and he asked me to prepare rotis as he was on his way home. Later, one person informed me that my husband has been attacked," said the deceased Sanatan's wife.
Following the incident, Town Police Station SDPO and IIC of Bada Bazar Police Station rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry.
Though the exact reason behind the attack is not clear, it is suspected that Sanatan was murdered over some past rivalry.
