In a major drug haul, Baselisahi police on Saturday seized over 3 kg of brown sugar and arrested three peddlers during a raid at Magalaghat Chhak in Puri district.
Based on reliable information, Baselisahi Police carried out the raid and nabbed the three drug suppliers. Brown sugar weighing 3.192 kg, Rs 20,000 in cash, four mobile phones, one currency counting machine and a car were seized from their possession.
The arrested have been identified as Susanta Pattanaik alias Nanda (22) and Raj Kishore Sahoo alias Raju (24) and Manas Sahoo alias Guntha (27), all from Kesharpur in Kanas police limits.
Till date in year 2022, Puri police have seized 4.8 kg of brown sugar and arrested 33 peddlers. Anti-narcotics helpline WhatsApp Number 773584886 is also functioning in the district.
Briefing the media on the drug bust, Puri superintendent of police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh said, “Mastermind Susanta will be taken on remand for further questioning. We will appeal to the court to grant us permission to take him on three days remand.”
Singh said three teams led by the DSP are carrying out raids in the city.
