In a significant breakthrough, Bolangir Police arrested the accused in brutal murder of a local pan shop owner Manoj Nayak from Bhubaneswar, sources said on Monday. The incident had sent shockwaves across Bishnumunda village of Bolangir district, where the victim man was well-known.

More Details About Incident

The murder had taken place on April 13, when Manoj Nayak, a resident and pan vendor of Bishnumunda, was attacked from behind with a sharp weapon. According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the attack was sudden and fatal, leaving no chance for the victim to defend himself. Accused Biju Seth had fled the spot immediately after committing the crime, triggering a manhunt by local police.

In response, Bolangir police earlier formed a special probe team to track down the accused, who had been absconding since the intervening night. Acting on credible intelligence, the team traced Biju in Bhubaneswar, where he was hiding to evade arrest. After days of surveillance, the police successfully nabbed him from a secret location in the Capital City.

A senior official involved in the investigation confirmed that Biju is now in police custody and is being brought back to Bolangir for further interrogation and legal proceedings. Police are also probing the motive behind the murder, which preliminary reports suggest could be linked to a personal dispute or financial enmity.
