The body of a bank agriculture officer who went missing under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday was recovered from Anga river at Julunda in Sonepur district on Saturday.
The deceased officer has been identified as Dibyaranjan Mishra, a resident of Santipada in Bolangir district who worked as an agriculture officer with the Punjab National Bank’s Barpali branch.
Notably, Mishra was returning home from Sonepur after his normal field duty when he went missing. After recovery of his bike and helmet from the bridge over Anga river at Cherupali on NH 26, fire personnel had launched a search operation.
According to the family members, there was no family tension nor had he any enmity with anyone.
The deceased’s father Keshab Charan Mishra had urged the Bolangir and Sonepur district administrations to trace out him.
The reason for him taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
As the news spread, a pall of gloom descended on his native village.
