The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday informed that it has recovered a ‘black diary’, laptop, pen drive, hard disk and other documents following a search in the house of Satyajit Samal, who was recently arrested on the charges of multiple marriages and duping victims.
Police had brought Samal on a two-day remand and his house was searched by the Capital Police officials. Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh informed that during the investigation it was found that the accused was staying at Chandrasekharpur.
“A laptop, two pen drives, 9 debit cards including international debit cards, stamp papers (marriage agreements), SIM cards and documents of vehicles have been seized,” said Singh.

Singh further informed that a passport of a woman has also been seized and she is being treated as a victim. Another victim from Berhampur has also informed to have given the accused over Rs 1 lakh.
“Today, the two-day remand is ending and Capital Police will again seek more remand of the accused for further investigation,” Singh added.
Sources said that the accused Satyajit Samal travelled to different countries including Dubai and London. It is suspected that he was also in touch with foreign nationals as well. A detailed investigation of whether the accused has cheated any women from other countries will also be investigated.
Satyajit was arrested based on the complaint filed by two women who accused him of duping them after marriage. Later it was found that the accused had married 5 women and was in contact with 49 more victims on a matrimonial website.
