In a shocking incident, a man working at a foreign liquor unit was brutally attacked and killed in Singhakhaman village under Bolangir Sadar police limits on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Sarada Yadav, a native of Bihar, who had been engaged in liquor vending activities in the area for some time.

According to reports, Yadav was assaulted by a group of four youths from the same village. The attackers allegedly used sharp weapons and inflicted multiple fatal injuries on the victim.

Locals, after witnessing the brutal assault, immediately rushed Yadav to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, the Bolangir Sadar police reached the spot, seized the body, and sent it for postmortem. Police sources said the attackers are suspected to be local youths known to the victim.

Preliminary findings suggest that previous enmity or a personal dispute, possibly linked to a love relationship, may have led to the murder.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Efforts are on to trace and nab the absconding accused. The incident has triggered panic in the area.

“We were thrashed on the road by four people. I ran for my life,” said Prakash Bishi, an eyewitness.

“They asked to call my manager. When the manager came with me, they took him along with them. They have thrown the body on the road. There were four people,” said another employee of the liquor unit.
