In a shocking incident, police on Sunday recovered the decomposed body of a young woman who had mysteriously gone missing in Angul. The girl working in a private company in Bhubaneswar was returning home on an auto-rickshaw.
The auto-rickshaw driver is suspected to have ‘raped and killed’ the girl. However, the suspect has been on the run since the incident.
Details of the Case Known So Far:
According to sources, the victim, was a native of Lodhajhari village under the Kaniha block of Angul. On 26th April, she was traveling from Bhubaneswar, but her journey was disrupted when her train was unexpectedly canceled from Talcher.
In an attempt to continue her journey, she took an auto-rickshaw to Talcher Road. However, she went missing shortly after. Tragically, her highly decomposed body was discovered yesterday near a canal close to Kendupali under the jurisdiction of Banarpal Police Station.
The young woman’s mysterious disappearance and the eventual discovery of her body have raised serious concerns regarding the possibility of foul play.
Action Taken By Police So Far:
A scientific investigation team and sniffer dogs were deployed at the scene to assist in the forensic examination.
Meanwhile, the police have seized the auto-rickshaw she had boarded; but the driver remains absconding, further deepening suspicions. The incident has triggered shock and outrage in the area, with demands for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.
Police officials are continuing their search for the absconding driver, who is suspected to have raped and killed the girl.
