A nine-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by two bike-borne miscreants from outside his house at Cement Nagar in ACC Colony of Bargarh Town on Sunday evening was rescued by some local residents a few hours after the incident.
Mohammad Muazzam, a class 3 student and son of Jamil Akhtar Khan, Chief Manager-CSR Head of ACC Bargarh Cement Plant, was kidnapped by two unidentified persons while he was playing in front of his house at around 6.45 pm yesterday, as per a complaint lodged at the Bargarh Town Police Station.
Muazzam’s father mentioned in his complaint that the kidnappers had also dropped a hand-written note in English near the garage of his house in which they had demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom to release his son.
Based on the complaint, the Town Police formed squads and launched a search operation to trace Muazzam.
A few hours after the incident, Muazzam was fortunately spotted by some local youths near Bargarh High School. They contacted his parents and informed the matter to the police.
Briefing the media on the incident, PK Mishra, Additional SP of Bargarh said, “After receiving the complaint, we blocked all exit and entry roads across the town. Besides, we also conducted raids at several suspected locations. We believe that the kidnappers left the child near the High School to escape police vigilance. We hope to nab the abductors soon.”
Sanjit Chhatria, who is stated to have rescued Muazzam from near the High School said, “At around 11.30 pm, I and my friends were strolling near the High School when we saw the boy walking alone near the boundary of the school. We were aware of the kidnapping news and so without losing any time we immediately rushed to the boy to check if he was the same child. Our concerns were right and we contacted the police and handed over the little boy to his parents. I also asked the child where the kidnappers dropped him and he replied that two men left him at some distance from the school,” Chhatria added.
A relieved Muazzam’s mother, Sainda Khan said, “He (Muazzam) told that two men forcibly took him on their bike to a jungle. We do not have enmity with anyone and I had never thought that this would ever happen to us.”
The health condition of Muazzam is fine however, the child is in shock and will recover soon, informed the child’s family.
