The Commissionerate Police on Thursday handed over the FIR copies of two cases against lady blackmailer to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The development 8s expected to prompt the ED to register a case to probe allegations of money laundering against Archana Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand.
Two separate FIRs were registered against Archana Nag with Nayapalli and Khandagiri police.
Filmmaker Akshay Parija had registered an FIR against her with Nayapalli police accusing her of extorting Rs 3 crore by blackmailing him over his intimate pictures and videos.
Similarly, another woman had lodged an FIR against Archana with Khandagiri police.
Earlier, it had requested the RBI to share details of the bank accounts of both Archana and Jagabandhu and their statements of last 5 years.
So far, police have got lead in at least 10 bank accounts of the couple and probe is on to look into their transaction details.
Meanwhile, Archana was produced before the SDJM Court amid heavy police deployment on Thursday Escorted by at least three sections of police force, including women personnel, the lady blackmailer was brought in a completely covered court van.
While being taken inside the court, she yelled at media persons and requested them to not report stories basing on ‘rumours’ without any evidence.
On the other hand, Archana and her husband Jagabandhu are lodged in Jharpada jail. They met each other in the jail on Sunday. The couple was allowed to meet for 15-20 minutes in presence of the jail warder and a staff.
Notably, the Commisionerate Police had arrested Archana on October 6 and her husband on October 22.
Meanwhile, accusing the police of dilly-dallying the investigation, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched an indefinite strike in front of the Commissionerate Police office.
The party leaders are critical of the Commissionerate Police while accusing it of shielding the persons involved in the high-profile sex racket.
