The Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested five persons on charges of collecting money from people visiting AIIMS, Bhubaneswar by impersonating AIIMS staff and assuring them to arrange early OPD tickets.
The accused persons have been identified as Pradipta Kumar Gouda (22), a resident of the Patrapada area; Prakash Nayak (22), a resident of a lane near DBR Guest House, AIIMS Road; Sidheswar Behera alias Govinda(21), a resident of Patrapada area; Manish Pattnaik (20), a resident of Lane no-8; Near smart city Guest House, AIIMS road and Bikram Keshari Mallick(29), a resident of Andhia village in Bhadrak district.
As per reports, the IIC of the Khandagiri Police Station had received information from his reliable source that some persons were targeting innocent patients and their attendants to dupe them of their money.

By promising them early OPD tickets without waiting for hours in queues, the accused persons were collecting huge amounts of money from patients and their attendants.
Subsequently, Khandgairi PS Staff along with the assistance of AIIMS Hospital outpost police and hospital security personnel, conducted raids at the OPD counter of AIIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar. During the enquiry, the police came to know that the five accused persons were involved in inducing patients and their attendants to pay them some money for early OPD tickets.
Police said during the investigation common people also disclosed that these people identified themselves as staff of AIIMS and assured early tickets.
The accused persons were produced in a court and further investigation is underway, the police added.
