A four-member team of the Odisha Crime Branch on Tuesday reached Paralakhemundi to assist the police in the investigation into the mysterious death case of Paralakhemundi ACF Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.
According to sources, the investigating agency will help the police in the investigation.
Crime Branch ADG Sanjeev Panda informed OTV that the CB has not taken over the probe into the case rather it will only help the police in the investigation. The CB team is led by a DSP rank officer and also has an inspector.

The move came after, the father of the deceased official had knocked on the doors of the Police DG Abhay yesterday seeking lie-detection test of the Paralakhemundi DFO, Soumya's wife and cook who are suspected to be behind the murder of the young forest officer.
According to sources, Paralakhemundi and Kaptipada police reached Bidyabharti's residence in Gouda village today to question her and her parents. The police had seized 2 mobile phones from Bidyabharti yesterday.
Earlier yesterday, a police team from Paralakhemundi questioned Bidya Bharati wife of Soumya Ranjan and her family members along with the ACF’s family members as a part of the alleged murder probe.
Meanwhile, in a latest twist to the mysterious death, Bidya Bharati alleged that her late husband had extra-marital relationship with other women.
"He (Soumya) used to send 'I Love You' messages to other women over Whatsapp chat," Bidya Bharati claimed.
Soumya had changed the password of his mobile phone after she learned about his relationship. Even he had removed the contact lists, call history, and cleared Whatsapp chat history, Bidya further alleged.
The widow of the late forest officer has refuted the charges regarding the agreement paper on property transfer. The unsigned agreement paper had been seized by the police.
Bidya claimed that she is unaware of the agreement that was allegedly made for the transfer of Soumya's salary and properties.
Police had seized the unsigned affidavit in which Soumya purportedly declared his wife as the sole claimant of his property and salary if anything happened to him.
