A horrifying double murder has sent shockwaves through the Beguniapada region of Ganjam district. Two brothers were brutally killed and their bodies were later set ablaze, in a shocking act of violence suspected to have stemmed from an old enmity. 

The crime unfolded in Shalaban village under Beguniapada police limits, with the bodies later being dumped and set on fire near Mareinuagaon village under Khallikote police jurisdiction on late Saturday night.

According to preliminary reports, the victims have been identified as Sanjay Barik, also known as Banka, and his brother Ajay Barik, residents of Sumandal village under Beguniapada police station. Both brothers were reportedly involved in several criminal cases in the past and were known figures in the local area.

Police sources indicate that the attack was likely motivated by long-standing personal rivalry. On Saturday morning, attackers reportedly ambushed the two brothers in Shalaban village. After the gruesome murders, the assailants transported the bodies to a deserted area near village, where they attempted to destroy evidence by setting their bodies on fire.
