The State Health Department and Sundargarh district administration have jointly set up special camps in the city to ensure that the differently-abled get vaccinated for Covid-19 in a seamless way.
According to sources, six special camps have been set up at Rourkela Government Hospital, Nehru OPD Block in Ispat General Hospital (IGH), Tilak Nagar UPHC in Bandhamunda, DAVMAC UPHC in Basanti Colony, Chhend Colony UPHC and Koel Nagar UPHC for the smooth vaccination of the differently-abled.
Vaccination drive for the persons with disabilities have already been started in these special centres. Sundargarh district Collector has requested differently-able beneficiaries to avail the facilities at these special centres to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19.

It is worth mentioning that the Centre had earlier issued guidelines for making operational ‘nearer to homes special Covid-19 vaccination centres’ for the elderly and differently-abled.
According to the guidelines, special vaccination centres will follow ‘a community-based, flexible and people-centric approach’.
Based on the cohort of the eligible population, the district or urban task forces will decide the location of a centre to maximise the reach of services to the target population, reduce vaccine wastage with minimal impact on the existing health services.
