Bhubaneswar: Eid ul Fitr is being celebrated among the Muslim communities across Odisha today in a low-key manner due to the restrictions imposed to contain Covid-19 cases in the State.
For the second consecutive year, there is no congregational prayers and get- together on the occasion due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Muslim clerics had also earlier urged the community members to celebrate the festival at home in a simple manner.
As congregational prayers are not allowed across the State, people have been asked by the religious leaders to offer Namaz at home.
"We offered thanksgiving prayers at home on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan. We are obeying the restrictions imposed by the administration to maintain social distance by staying at home and refrain from visiting mosques," said Sirajuddin, a resident of Cuttack.

Meanwhile, as many as 10 platoons of police forces have been deployed in Bhadrak to maintain law and order during the observance of the festival.
"Mass prayers are not permitted. Only five important persons managing the affairs of the mosques offered the prayers on the occasion by maintaining social distance. The decision to offer prayers and feast in houses has been taken to safeguard the interests of the society amid coronavirus outbreak and people are abiding by it,” said Muhammad Abdul Bari, president of Chauda Mahala Muslim Jamat in Bhadrak.
Meanwhile, Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda greeted people on the occasion of Eid.
In his message, Patnaik wished peace and prosperity for all. “Warm greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Eid Ul Fitr. May the spirit of Eid bring happiness, prosperity, peace and good health and lead us on the path of compassion and love,” he tweeted.
The BJP national VP also greeted people on the occasion and wished happiness and prosperity for all. “May this holy festival unite all with peace, brotherhood and cooperation,” he tweeted.
